Usb Power Saving Settings

If you want to enable windows vista to turn off the usb root hub when the computer is running on battery power click enabled in the on battery list.

Or check it to let windows turn off usb ports to save power. In the power options dialog box expand usb settings and then expand usb selective suspend setting. Set both the on battery and plugged in settings to disabled then click ok to apply changes. Click on ok to save your changes.

Choose your desired settings using the checkboxes and then click on ok to save these settings. Click change advanced power settings. Click on the power management tab and then choose the power settings you want using the check boxes next to each option. Under preferred plan click the change plan settings link for the plan you re currently using.

Right click on the usb root hub you want to change and then click on properties to open the usb port s properties dialog box. Repeat this process for each usb port hub you want to change. If you are using a laptop computer this feature may help if you do not want usb powered devices to draw off the computer s battery while the devices are not actively being used. Click on power options. If you want usb ports to keep supplying power in sleep mode just uncheck allow the computer to turn off this device to save power. Click change advanced power settings then scroll down to usb settings and click the little plus next to usb selective suspend setting to expand the options. Under the power tab you can see the power output for that usb port.
